170th anniversary of Blairmore Pier

It’s a day of celebrations! Join us to celebrate:

  • Blairmore Pier’s 170th anniversary

  • The 20th anniversary of the pier’s restoration and reopening

  • The 50th anniversary of PS Waverley’s sailing in preservation

 

Timetable of events

  • The Heritage Bothy - Open 11am to 6pm. Located on the hammerhead of the pier, the heritage bothy captures the history of the pier and the local area. Sign our visitors book to share your personal memories of Blairmore Pier. (Free entry)

  • PS Waverley - A highlight of the day’s events. Waverley will arrive at the pier at 1.50pm (to board passengers) then will set sail to cruise Loch Long. She will return at 3.30pm (passengers will disembark) and be greeted with traditional music from Inverhooley and an exchange of celebrations between PS Waverley and Blairmore Pier. She will depart at 4.10pm. 

  • Scottish ceilidh & country dancing - Blairmore Hall, originally built as a waiting room for the pier, will be hosting country dancing from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Tea & cake will be served during the interval at 3.30pm. All welcome, to participate or spectate. (Free entry)

  • Inverhooley Ceilidh Band - Well known local ceilidh band Inverhooley will be on hand to entertain dancers in the hall and to welcome in PS Waverley to the pier.

  • Pop up stall -  Located on the lawn to the right of the pier, our pop up stall will be selling souvenirs of the day, raffle tickets to win some amazing prizes and the silent auction bids!

  • Raffle - Tickets are on sale NOW and can be purchased from The Blairmore gift shop, open daily from 9.30pm to 4.30pm. You can also buy tickets on the day from the pop up stall. The raffle will be drawn at the pop up stall at 3pm on Wednesday.

  • Silent Auction - We are bidding off an Abu Garcia Cardinal Allround combo 8ft fishing rod (RRP £50) kindly donated by Purdies Dunoon. You can bid online NOW with the link below.   • Oor Wullie - We’re pleased to say Oor Wullie has decided to join us on the day. He’s camera ready and poised for your selfies! Make sure you tag us in your photos on instagram or facebook!

  • The Blairmore - Opposite the pier, The Blairmore cafe and gift shop will be open from 9.30am to 4.30pm. You can find menu information on their website.


All are very welcome on the day. Free entry to all activities.

Voluntary donations towards the upkeep of the pier would be hugely appreciated and can be made on the day, by card or cash, or online via our homepage.
